Quality Strategy and Quality Policy
VERN' University of Applied Sciences has adopted a strategic goal to carry out its educational and business activities in compliance with the highest national and international standards for higher education. The culture of quality is a value and a responsibility shared by all VERN's stakeholders and expressed in our quality policy. The Quality Policy is a frame of reference for the establishing, evaluation, implementation and the achievement of strategic objectives regarding quality. The process of the quality policy implementation involves all VERN's students, employees and associates, is overseen through the VERN'Qual quality management system and is carried out in accordance with the dynamics, the requirements and possibilities of VERN's development.
Accreditation and Licensing
VERN' University of Applied Sciences is a higher education institution with publicly recognized rights which performs the activities of higher professional education and lifelong learning and development in the areas of entrepreneurship economics, tourism, business information technology, business finance, media and communications. The assurances that VERN' meets all the criteria necessary to perform its activities and required by law or other norms and by-laws is provided by the appropriate competent institutions:
- Zagreb Commercial Court's ruling on incorporation into the Register of Companies
- Ruling on the listing in the Register of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports
All study programmes at VERN' University of Applied Sciences are performed in compliance with the appropriate national licences.
VERN' University of Applied Sciences is subject to regular re-accreditation and periodic independent evaluation carried out by the Agency for Science and Higher Education.
VERN' University of Applied Sciences was awarded Extended Erasmus University (Erasmus Mundus) Charter for international academic exchange in the academic year 2010/11 by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) for the European Union (Brussels).
Quality Norms and Standards
VERN’Qual's activities are carried out and evaluated in compliance with the ISO 9001:2008 norm and Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (hereafter: ESG).
The quality management system was implemented and certified according to the international norm (ISO 9001:2008 on 30th July 2004 for the first time. It was re-certified in compliance with the revised norm ISO 9001:2008 in 2010 and has been regularly audited by an authorised certifying company.
In the year 2011 began the preparations for the establishment of the quality assurance system according to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area. An independent audit according to the ESG norm is expected in the course of the year 2013.
VERN'Qual is regulated by the By-lawon the Quality System at VERN' University of Applied Sciences, the Quality Manual, and other relevant documents (by-laws, procedures, instructions) available at VERN' EduNeta.
Awards and Recognition
The first and most important study programme at VERN', Entrepreneurship Economics, received a highly positive independent international review by the Finnish Vaasa University as early as the year 2000.
In the year 2009, upon the decision of its Committee, VERN' joined the distinguished organisation European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), which numbers over 700 members from the sectors of education, business, administration, civil services and consulting from 80 countries.
VERN' University of Applied Sciences was the first academic Superbrand, receiving its first Superbrands Croatia recognition in 2009, and since then every year (2009, 2010, 2011).
In an independent quality survey QUDAL (QUality meDAL), the majority of Croatian citizens considered VERN' University of Applied Sciences the best private higher education institution in Croatia.
