Fieldtrip – Entrepreneurship in Sport and Tourism
This year two groups of VERN’ students from the ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN SPORTS course spent couple of interesting days on a fieldtrip to Istria. First group stayed there from May 15 to 17 and the second from May 22 to 24. The program of the stay and official part of the trip was organized and led by the course lecturer Željko Kolić, M.Sc.
On the first day of their stay students visited the wellness centre at the„Monte Mulini“ Hotel, where the manager Ines Kovačić Drndić spoke about the importance of interior design and individual approach to creating the offer for the relaxation and vacation centre as an important segment of tourist and sports offer.
What followed was the tour of Rovinj under expert leadership and free afternoon at the hotel-tourist and sports-recreational centre “Amarin” where students learned about the centre’s operation and also took that opportunity to try their offered services themselves.
During dinner at the “Gradina” wine cellar, just above the Limski Kanal Fjord, they tasted selected wines from Mr. Marijan Arman’s cellar who also held a short lecture to the students about his wine producing methods.
On the second day of the study visit, the organization included a visit to the “Adriatic Kempinski” Hotel, above Savudrijska vala, which opens for the public on July 1 this year. Organized by recently graduated VERN’ baccalaureus Dalia Bonefačić, students had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Dušan Del’Negro who acquainted them with the meaning of golf and its connection to tourism. What followed was the tour of villas intended to be sold exclusively to golfers.
At the “Stella Maris” sports -recreational and tennis centre, the director of the ATP tournament Umag, Mr. Slavko Rasberger, held a lecture on organization of the ATP tournament, leading of sports -recreational and tennis centre, as well as about the usefulness and interconnection between sports and tourism.
On the second day, the students spent the working and recreational afternoon on the former railroad track route “Parenzana”, today’s bicycle and trekking track. They met Mr. Martin Čotar there, one of the most famous Croatian bicyclists, currently working at the county tourist board as the head of sports and recreation in tourism.
Before returning to Rovinj, students visited wine maker Moreno Coronica who acquainted them with his system of cultivating wine grape and producing top-quality wine in his vineyard complex.
On the last day of the trip, visit to the National Park Brijuni was scheduled with guided tour and familiarizing with how Brijuni golf club does its business and with the organization of golf and polo international tournaments.
