A round table titled "Structural Reforms and position of Croatia in 2017“ were held at VERN' University of Applied Sciences and it joined H. E. Ambassador Branko Baričević, MSc., Head of the European Commission Representation in the Republic of Croatia, VERN's Dean and Expert for Geopolitics, Professor Vlatko Cvrtila, PhD., Dubravko Radošević, PhD., from Zagreb Institute of Economics and an Academic Head of Jean Monnet Module at VERN' and Neven Vidaković, PhD., a Monetary Policy Expert and a Lecturer at Zagreb School of Economics and Management.
The discussion, which was moderated by our lecturer Darija Prša Krunić, MSc., was held within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module, which is integrated and conducted through courses at VERN's graduate study programmes.
Subject of discussion was very current at this moment and it was structural reforms within the European semester, in the framework of Excessive Deficit Procedure and the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure.
Participants concluded that the announced release of Croatia from the Excessive Deficit Procedure entails some optimism in our economy, but given the fact that the current stability in our country has overflowed from the European Union, through the mechanisms of the European Central Bank, further growth of the economy must be pushed with the necessary reforms that will stimulate development of the industry and the creation of new jobs.
