EU POLICY MAKING, LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY

FREQUENCY OF OFFERING: 6th semester

PREREQUISITES:  Basic knowledge of international business; basic knowledge of EU integration; it is desirable that student had passed either Introduction to Lobbying or other communication course; advanced knowledge of English; some work experience (or internship) that builds broadly on issues of the course.

DESCRIPTIONT OF THE COURSE: The course explains EU policy-making process in the EU and Croatia and the channels of decision making. It provides students with practical knowledge and skills in organization and implementation of the lobbying campaign, as well as with the methodology of formulation of the lobbying strategy and use of methods and techniques which can be efficient at the EU level.

OUTCOMES:  Students will leave the course with a clearer and more active approach to the forthcoming European membership and integration, its potentials, limitations, strengths and challenges for the individual

TEACHING METHODOLOGIES: Theoretical and methodological background applied through case analysis related to the position of Croatian business interests in front of the EU institutions. The course will be interactive, meaning students will meet and interact with European diplomats, Ambassadors and policy makers who are based in Zagreb (and maybe beyond) and see how this all works out in practice.
