VERN' Alumni Club
Fourth gathering of VERN' Alumni Club members
Educational and business market perspectives in the context of future development of technology and economy was the light motive of the 4th VERN' Alumni Forum, geathering of members of VERN 'Alumni Club, which counts more than 4,000 alumni, which was held at the Convention Center City Plaza Zagreb.
Alumni were welcomed by Ms. Višnja Grozdanić, MsC., VERN's Vice-dean for Study Programs and by VERN’s Dean, professor Vlatko Cvrtila, PhD. He presented them certain news in our academic community, like new study programs, development of VERN’s university initiative, and development of postgraduate (PhD) university study program, which will be held at VERN’ and performed by the Faculty of Economics, University of Rijeka.
More information about this doctoral study program were presented by Mr. Ivo Ivančić, a member of VERN’ Alumni Club himself and Deputy Managing Director and a member of the VERN’s Board of Governors.
Future market and economic perspectives in the context of future technological development were pointed out by Mr. Calum Chace, British futurologist and author of the bestsellers "Surviving AI" and "The Economic Singularity", who held a lecture on the development of Artificial Intelligence – opportunities and risks that technological development could bring to mankind. He also held a similar lecture a day earlier for our students at VERN’s premises. All challenges and risks he reduced under a simple conclusion: "The task of humanity is to solve Artificial Intelligence and use it to solve everything else".
“This lecture met our expectations totally; the audience responded enthusiastically and we were very happy with Mr. Chace“, said VERN's representatives.
The 15th anniversary of the first generation of VERN’s graduates was also symbolically marked and it was followed by stand-up comedy performance, dynamic session of business speed date and After Forum Party.
